1833
The history of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch Manufacture begins in the Swiss Jura Mountains, in the village of Le Sentier, When Antoine LeCoultre establishes his watch making workshop. And he develops the first gearwheels and patented watch mechanisms. Soon, the Manufacture will form a unique watch making complex that to this day still preserves its traditional character.
1844
Searching for accuracy, Antoine LeCoultre invents the Millionometer. It was the first device capable to measure the micron, a million of a metre. As the result, the metric system was established as a standard of measurement for the watch industry.
1847
Thanks to the created by Antoine LeCoultre first crown winding system, was eliminated the need to use a winding key.
1903
Developed by LeCoultre&Co the world’s thinnest pocket watch movement, a mere 1.38 mm underscore the avant-garde spirit that characterizes the Manufacture.
1928
An engineer, Jean-Leon Reutter invents the Atmos, a clock that lives on air with no need for batteries, electric current or winding.
1929
LeCoultre&Co products the worlds smallest mechanical watch movement (14 x 4.8 x 3.4 mm, the Calibre 101). Only two watchmakers master the art of assembling the components.
1931
In order to protect brittle glass, was created Reverso, the legendary wristwatch with a swivel case. For over 70 years it has been the only watch to perpetuate the Art Deco style.
1953
The first automatic watch, the Futurematic, to dispense with the traditional winding crown, perpetuates the avant-garde spirit of the manufacture.
1956
The Memovox, the first automatic alarm wristwatch is created.
1991
Jaeger-LeCoultre creates the grande Taille watch case to celebrate the 60th birthday of its legendary swivel watch, the Reverso. Issued in a limited series of 500, it writes the first chapter in the dynasty of six Limited series in pink gold.
1992
The Master Control 1000 Hours sets a new standard for reliability of automatic wristwatches.
1993
The genius of a rectangular tourbillon, the second limited series in pink gold was offered to collectors of the Reverso. A gendle rotation of the case reveals the most gentle mechanism in watch making history.
1994
The Reverso Duo, with two time zones and two dials is created. This technical feat still remains unchallenged.
2000
The Master Grande Memovox unites the perpetual calendar and the alarm. The crystal-clear tone of its gong, a perfect tribute to the bronze bell, lends an aura of distinction to its time-keeping qualities.
2001
Jaeger-LeCoultre Innovates the Reverso with a transparent case, permissive to see its inner life. It’s the first Reverso with openworked movement, a true work of art and a source of watch making charm.
